Total 1213 villages fall in District Gurdaspur out of which 1050 villages are covered with piped water supply 163 villages are covered with Hand pump. 1279 no. Panchyats fall under District Gurdaspur out of these 40829 no. Beneficiaries were to be provided with individual household latrine,out of which 35935 have been completed at the cost of Rs 65.98 crores. Approved Kunjar surface water project to give potable water 102 villages with estimated cost 76.47 crore and allotted Parowal surface water project to give 40 villages 40 villages potable water with estimated cost 45.05 core. In these 2 No Surface Water Project 97 Quality affected villages will be potable water supply. |

Key functions of the department |
Preparation of estimates and execution of Rural Water Supply Schemes in the eligible villages of the District under different heads and their monitoring till sustainability. To impart training to the Department Technocrats and GPWSC members about O&M of the water supply schemes. To monitor and defend different court cases.To monitor the O&M of Govt. buildings and execute the P.H. Works in the newly constructed Govt. buildings. To review monthly physical and financial progress of all works in the Distt. to provide potable water. |
